EPOC Connect is often rebadged by vendors. Examples include Psion’s PsiWin and Ericsson’s EPOC Connect. This software requires EPOC Connect version 5.0 to be installed, which includes: - Psion PsiWin 2.3 - Ericsson EPOC Connect 1.0 c) Other Requirements EPOC CONNECT: eSync 2000 will work ONLY with the EPOC Connect email synchronization component installed. (To install the EPOC Connect email synchronization component, run the EPOC Connect installation program. Select the ‘PC Connectivity’ tab, and click the ‘Email Synchronization plug-in 1.00’ icon). If you cannot locate the EPOC Connect email synchronization installation, please contact your machine vendor. EPOC DEVICE: eSync 2000 should work with any EPOC device running version 2.00(518), or later, of the EPOC Email application. NOVELL GROUPWISE: eSync 2000 should work with the Novell GroupWise 32-bit Windows client, versions 5.1 or greater. eSync 2000 was built and tested using the 5.5.1 (11/18/98) client. Basic functional testing was also performed with the 5.5.2.1 (10/19/99) enhancement pack client. d) Installation Prior to installing eSync 2000, please ensure the EPOC Connect email synchronization plug-in has been installed. (See ‘System Requirements’ above). To install eSync 2000 - Novell GroupWise Edition, run the installation program ES2000GW.EXE and follow the prompts. eSync 2000 will be installed into the EPOC Connect application folder. To remove eSync 2000 - Novell GroupWise Edition, run the Windows control panel ‘Add/Remove Programs’ applet, select Advansys eSync 2000 - Novell GroupWise Edition’ entry and follow the prompts. Note that removing eSync 2000 will not automatically remove the GroupWise folders created by the application. You should move any email in these folders to another location, and then delete the folders manually. e) Operation Documentation for the Email application can be found on your EPOC Connect CD and in the EPOC Connect online help. Documentation for EPOC Connect, including setting up a new synchronization task, can be found on your EPOC Connect CD, and in the EPOC Connect online help. Documentation for eSync 2000 - Novell GroupWise Edition can be found in the eSync 2000 online help file, which is accessible from the synchronization task’s property pages, or from a Windows desktop shortcut to the help file that will be created during the installation. You can also browse and view the help file directly. It will be located in your EPOC Connect application folder. The help file is called GWEML.HLP. Note the email synchronization process is documented in the EPOC Connect online help. Please ensure you have read all the above documentation before submitting any operational questions to Advansys. f) Known Problems/Issues - You may have to press F5 in GroupWise to refresh the client after performing a synchronization to see any changes that have been applied. - GroupWise email messages, which do not contain body text, are synchronized to the device with a single space inserted in the body text. This is a workaround to a bug in EPOC Connect. - GroupWise 5.5 Enhancement Pack Users: You cannot synchronize outward email from the mobile device to a client side GroupWise enhancement pack POP3 account. Even though messages may appear to have been sent, initial tests indicate the GroupWise API, used by eSync 2000, does not support enhancement pack POP3 accounts. 2) FOR MORE INFORMATION The Advansys Web site (http://www.advansyscorp.com) will have the latest eSync 2000 - Novell GroupWise Edition information, frequently asked questions (FAQ) and program updates.
