EPOC Connect
EPOC Connect is the generic name of the
PC-based connectivity software developed by Symbian Inc.
EPOC Connect is licenced by the suppliers of
mobile devices that use the EPOC32 operating system. These suppliers often
rebadge (rename) EPOC Connect in order to differentiate themselves in
the marketplace. Examples of rebadged versions of EPOC Connect include
Psion's PsiWin and Ericsson EPOC Connect.
A number of Advansys products extend EPOC Connect
by providing additional agenda, contacts and email synchronization services.
These software applications require the appropriate version of EPOC
Connect be installed. This web site, and our newest product
documentation all refer to EPOC Connect. The following matrix lists the various
versions of EPOC Connect along the top, and the equivalent rebadged versions as
supplied by licences down the left side.

* EPOC Connect 4.0 was the first version to use
that name after the formation of Symbian. For the sake of simplicity, we will
use the name EPOC Connect 3.0 to describe PsiWin 2.1.
Example:
Advansys LinkWise 2000 - Novell GroupWise Edition
requires EPOC Connect 5.0. From the matrix above, users of Psion mobile
devices would require PsiWin 2.3, and Ericsson users would require
Ericsson EPOC Connect 1.0.
