      Hi,

I’m trying to create a button which will appear on the users toolbar which when clicked will give full proxy access to the groupwise admin account. I tried recording a macro but only opens the options dialog box. Does anyone know which method i should use.

      Many Thanks,
      James.

To clarify your requirement, here is what I think you want. A toolbutton that will:

        • Grant Admin account proxy rights to an otherwise excluded (normal) GroupWise user account;
        • Proxy to the Admin account.

The only way to do this is to use multilogin, which will require the Admin password.

Alternatively, you could write an applet that runs from the Admin account. The applet would automate the granting of proxy rights for each user account involved. Then each user would simply use the GroupWise Proxy menu (at the top of the Folder List pane) to proxy to Admin when required.

        I hope this helps.

          Sorry,

I’ve been a bit fuzzy here.

What i have is a group of 2500+ users using groupwise 5.5. 300 of these users are getting migrated to exchange 2003. In groupwise 4.1 it was possible to create a view with groupwise view designer with a button which when clicked upon by the user would run a macro to give full proxy access to the users account for the specified account within the macro. This would then allow the exchange migration utility to run in order to transfer the users mail. Groupwise 5.5 doesn’t run the old 4.1 macros, hence i was looking for an alternative which would make
life easy for the users, either by giving them a simple button click or by adding the proxy access in the silently in the background when they started up their groupwise client.

The link below shows the macro as it was with exchange 5.5 and groupwise 4.1
          http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/en/55/help/default.asp?url=/exchange/en/55/help/documents/server/xmg10006.htm?id=1264

I had also downloaded the novell api material but not being much of a programmer became completely lost once i started looking at it.

          Thanks,
          James

            Thank you for the clarification.

It is possible to write a Formativ applet that proxies to the Admin account by using the AccountRights object in the GroupWise Object API. If you wish to develop such a solution, please refer to the online Object API documentation here.

Alternatively, if you prefer to have a solution custom-developed, please contact Advansys for specification and pricing at support@advansyscorp.com.

            I hope this helps.
