I was running vers. 1.0.6 and got a range check error when trying to view an archived mailbox. I installed 1.1 and archived the box again, only to get the same error…when I click OK to clear the error I get continuous and multiple range check errors and have to end the viewer task…help?

Thanks for the report. We have received two reports of this issue previously and as a result it appears to be a rare occurrence. The first reporter we didn’t hear back from after a request for further information and the other stated the problem ‘went away’ after they installed the MS .NET Framework 2.0. However, as the A2Go viewer is not a .NET application, we have no idea why installing .NET 2.0 would resolve the problem. It is suspected that the install must have changed some environmental condition which resolved the problem.

Initially there are a couple of options. Firstly you could try the ‘anecdotal’ approach and install MS .NET 2.0. Secondly, you can try our candidate release for Archive To Go 1.2, which I will send you download information via direct email later today.

If these approaches don’t work, we will gather further information to see if we can reproduce the problem here.

I was able to archive the mailbox successfully using 1.2, thank you, but now I get 5 file folders on the desktop during the archive process and they don’t go away even after the completion. Am thinking they are used for temp storage in creating the XMLs?…but shouldn’t they go away?

Good to hear that range check issue has been solved.

A2Go only create the desktop shortcut for the archive account if you check the “Create a shortcut to this Archive on the Desktop” option during the archiving process. It should not create any temp file/folder on the desktop.

Does these folders contains any files? What type of files stored in that folder? What is the name of these folder? Are you able to re-produce the same behaviour after deleting these folders?

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Look forward to hearing from you.

I just read this thread because a user reported the problem again.

She had .NET 1.1 and .NET 2.0 on her PC – I re-ran the .NET 2.0 setup in repair mode and it fixed the range check problem!!
