We’ve uncovered and issue where if the user does not have admin rights on a Windows 7 computer, the Formativ 2.5 installation will not install correctly. This will happen about 50% of the time. The other 50%, using UAC works fine.

When the UAC install fails, the symptom is that the Applets Menu item will not display in the GW Menu. If the user is made an admin, and the installation is run again, the install works correctly. If the user’s admin right are then removed, the Formative Applet still works fine.

Wondering if anyone else has run into this, and if they have found a work around. I’d like to be able automate the distribution of Formative runtime should we purchase more seats, but this user admin rights issue puts the brakes on that idea.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Thank you for your post. What environmental condition do you think would explain that the installation works correctly 50% of the time?

        Kind regards,
