I noticed a behavior with Message Saver where I created a link between GroupWise and the hard drive using the <Ctrl> click Message Saver button. I wanted to archive certain items in many folders so I did a GroupWise search based on dates. I clicked the Message Saver button and it asks me where to archive the messages even though I created the link.

If I go into the folder without searching where the message exists, highlight a message, and click Message Saver to archive it, the message gets archived without user interaction.

Is it possible to use the search feature of GroupWise with Message Saver while not prompting the user for where with each message? I want to keep messages in the same folder structure and I fear that choosing multiple messages and clicking one folder will put all messages into that one folder even though other folders are configured.

Message Saver Configuration Settings (Hold <CTRL> to configure) lets you to map a GroupWise folder with the hard drive location.

Messages in the search folder can be from different location. The current approach does not process each message’s location and saved according to the configuration settings. It may be possible to update the Message Saver to process each message and save according to the settings. I have added to the enhancement database to review by the engineers.

In the meantime, if the messages are stored in the same folder then you can use the Filter feature to display items according to specific criteria. Filter feature will not display items in a separate folder so you can save messages using the Message Saver configuration.

You can access the Filter feature from the GroupWise View – Filter menu or from the Toolbar.

        Hope this helps.

Well, I guess I’m confused as I tried a message that was in my search from a folder that was configured in the program. If I go to the actual folder in GroupWise, it archives fine.

Is the message that I pick in the search window handled differently than the same message in it’s actual folder?

          Thanks for your help.

Current version of the Message Saver does not lets you to save messages from the Search folder to the pre-configured hard disk location. We have added to the enhancement database for the future release.

Have you tried the Filter approach as explained in the earlier post?

Yes, I’ve used the filter approach many times but when I have 125 folders to go through, it gets a little tedious. Especially when there are multiple users to help archiving messages.

I’d use the other product you produce if I had a choice on what to archive. It only allows archiving the complete mailbox which is overkill for what I want. I just want to use Message Saver to offload messages from our system that people have already determined are worth saving by filing them in folders – not the whole account.

Thanks for adding the enhancement for consideration.

We are currently finalizing an upgrade of the Archive To Go which has options to choose folders to archive. If you are interested to test the product then send an email to Support (support@advansyscorp.com).
