I have archived a groupwise account to a file servers hard disk and it works Ok. However when I copy the directory to CD and try to run the viewer.exe file I get the following popup window:

The following archive to go components require the .NET framework in order to function. If you answer Ok to this screen the message goes away but the viewer doesn’t load.

if you load the cd into another machine that has >NET loaded it reads the CD OK. I was under the impression that you wouldn’t need .NET on a pc to read CD’s.

You are correct in your understanding that the Archive To Go Viewer should run without the need for the Microsoft .NET Framework being installed on the target machine.

Which version of Archive To Go are you using?

Viewer.exe is a stub program which does some initial environment checking and then launches a2goview.exe, the Archive To Go Viewer application.

Instead of using viewer.exe, can you run the Archive To Go Viewer application directly by running the a2goview.exe program file located in the portable archive’s ..media-01_viewer folder?

          I am using version 1.0.0.6

I have tried your suggestion on a couple of machines and by running the a2goview.exe seems to work, however on one machine it opened the viewer but errored when you clicked the search button. This may be an isolated machine.

How can I get a licenced copy of the new version 1.1?

Thanks for the update. Archive To Go 1.1 should solve the viewer.exe problem.

If the Microsoft .NET Framework is not installed, you will not be able to use the Archive To Go Finder (i.e. Search button) or the Archive To Go Indexer.

With respect to obtaining the full version of 1.1, we have just sent the information to customers for whom we have contact details. From my initial review, it appears that we don’t have contact information on file for your organization. Please contact your reseller, who will in turn contact us, or write directly to sales@advansyscorp.com and we will email the access details.
