the Print Email applet and formative runtime 1.6

this is the applet that allows you to print the email and then it will include a listing of all attachments, date, time stamp etc. I am using groupwise 5.5sp4 (not enhancement pack) and the applet says it only works with runtime 1.5 yet I can’t find version 1.5. I installed runtime 1.6 and the applet, but then when I try to use this applet, it doesn’t work saying that it needs the Formativ Portal Manager, which requires Novell GroupWise 5.5 Enhancement Pack (version 5.5.7.2) or greater to be installed. Is there a workaround to get this applet to work with the Groupwise 5.5sp4 non-enhancement pack version or is there another applet that will do the same thing that will work with this older version of groupwise? any assistance or thoughts would be appreciated. thank you

We recommend that you use the latest version of Formativ. All versions are backward-compatible, so you can expect version 1.6 to improve on 1.5.

Unfortunately we do not have an applet for printing email without a Formativ Portal. I recommend that you install the GroupWise Enhancement Pack, as recommended in the System Requirements of the Formativ readme.txt.

Thank you for the information. Unfortunately we would have to upgrade our GW5.5 installation to the EP installation (all back end server components too) which isn’t going to happen (as we should then just go to GW6.x which would also solve my ‘problem’). You cannot run a EP client against an non-EP backend to my knowledge.

You may wish to look into the Advansys Message Saver Pack. This solution creates a portable copy of your GroupWise message in a disk file. It includes a Viewer that does not require GroupWise to be installed, and prints both plain-text and HTML format messages.
