      I have installed GW 6.5.6 client on Vista and it works with no obvious problems. Tried to install Formativ Runtime. Installation proceeds with no errors but GW reports ‘an incomplete installation has been detected’ on startup. Tried installing as administrator – same problem.

        We are currently finalizing the approach we will use in an updated Formativ environment for Vista, which will eliminate the error you describe in your post.

        In the mean time, there is a work-around, which we will communicate to you by direct email.

          WOW! 6.5.6 works on Vista?

          I spoke to Novell for weeks about 6.5.5 not installing on Vista. I enquired as to whether 6.5.6 would install and they said it wouldn’t and said I would have to upgrade to 7!

          Nickhoare, did you experience similar issues with 6.5.5? Or have you always run 6.5.6?

          I would really appreciate any feeback on the subject.

            Update:

            Just downloaded 6.5.6 client from Novell, just to try installing it on my Vista test PC.

            As with 6.5.5, installation fails at 99% stating the install engine has stopped responding. Frown

            Vista Business.

            If you have any wise words to add Nickhoare, I would appreciate any detail about how you managed to get 6.5.6 installed on Vista.

              I’m having the same error with GroupWise 7.0.2 and thought it was something on my end at first. If the workaround solution is a Vista fix in general and not specific to the GroupWise 6.5.x release I’d appreciate knowing how to fix it. I’m guessing it’s a permission issue with Vista since that seems to be a recurring issue with some of the software I’ve been installing.

                                Please send me whatever information you have about making the runtime work on vista. Also is it even possible to install for multiple users and have things work for multiple users on the same machine?

                                  Could you please send your Formativ Configuration to Support (support@advansyscorp.com). You can obtain the configuration by selecting Help | About Formativ… from the GroupWise main menu. When the About Formativ dialog appears, go to the Configuration tab and click the button Copy to clipboard. Then paste the text into your reply email (or save it to a plain-text file and include it as an attachment).
