    One my users is receiving the following error when attempting to archive messages with message saver…

    Formativ Applet compilation error C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataAdvansysFormativ1.0AppletsMessage Saver_Flexalock.vbf Unterminated string constant at line 3818, column 38

    XPSP2 w/Groupwise 7.03 client.
    I believe the message saver runtime is version 2.0.2

    Thanks for reporting this problem. Does it occur when attempting to save all or only some messages?

    It sounds like the Message Saver solution has become corrupted. Has it been working on the affected machine, or has it just been installed there? I suggest reinstalling the solution before trying again. If there is no improvement, please obtain another copy of the installer – either from a different machine, or download it again.

    I reinstalled Message Saver with no improvement, so I also reinstalled the formative framework with no improvement. The error comes up when you try and run the Applet from within groupwise, and that’s as far as we can get with it.

    Thanks for the reply. To help us narrow down the possibilities of the cause, could you please let us know the following:

    • Has it been working previously on the affected machine?
    • Does it happen for all users, some users or one user?
    • Do you have Microsoft .NET 1.1 installed on the user’s machine?

    Please also send us the Formativ configuration information by selecting the GroupWise client’s Help menu, select About Formativ, select the Configuration tab and use the Copy to Clipboard button, then paste the config info into an email to support@advansyscorp.com.

    1. The product worked previously on this machine for many months.

    2. It affects all users who log on, regardless of groupwise account.

    3. .NET Framework 1.1 and all security patches have been installed for some time.

    I have also sent an e-mail with the information you requested.

    I think the Message Saver solution has become corrupted. What is the name and version (see file properties) of the installer file that you used for reinstalling? If this is a different installer file than that used for installation on other machines, could you try using a different copy? If no other installer is available, please copy the solution file from another machine where it is working (you should find it in a similar folder to that listed in your initial post above).

    I used our existing install files and the latest ones off your website. It didn’t make a difference.
