      We have Formative runtime installed on a Citrix server and I’m trying to restore the association with VBScripts. I’ve clicked the ‘restore association’ button and unchecked the ‘Disable everytime I start Groupwise’. This works when I do it but everytime the server is rebooted, the association is disabled again.

      Any ideas?

        We don’t run anything on machine startup, so I can’t think of anything Formativ-related that would be causing this. Are you running the ‘restore association’ process logged in as an Administrator?

          Yes, I’m logged in as administrator. After restoring I checked the registry key and it had been correctly set to it’s ‘normal’ value but after each reboot it’s back to the Formative setting.

            I’ve just noticed that the association is not being disabled when the server reboots but when a user starts GroupWise even though I have unchecked the ‘every time I start’ box. I can’t test it at the moment because there are a number of users on the machine but I’m guessing that I need to restore the association after switching the server into install mode.

              The solution probably depends on your Citrix configuration. The ‘every time I start’ setting is stored under the following key:

              HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareAdvansys Corporationformativ1.0Settings

              Value Name:
              Redirect Associations

              Value:
              0 = False

              You would need to ensure all users have this value set to 0.

              I hope this helps.

                Thanks for this info. I think the problem arose from an incorrect choice of options during installation. By the time we realised the error, a number of users had already used the application and had the incorrect setting stored in their profile. Although we were restoring the association, each time one of these users logged on they were overwriting the HKCR value. I have now written a script which corrects the registry values for these users as they logon.

                Thanks again.

                  Thanks for the update. Glad to hear things are now working as they should.
