I installed Formativ Express and Outlook Migration. After several attempts (uninstalls and reinstalls), clicking the migration button asks for outlook profile to use, but nothing else happens. there are no portals or applets in formativ folder and the Formativ control Panel app shows an “x” as the first choice for items to be enabled or disabled. Uninstallaing does not remove the Control Panel app, so this defect does not go away. any ideas?

Thanks for the feedback, which we will investigate. If you install Formativ Runtime, does the ‘x’ problem in the Control Panel go away? The migration solution can also be executed using Formativ Runtime.

If you press and hold the SHIFT key when you initiate the migration solution, it should provide a more detailed log of the startup sequence. The log is saved in the default Formativ Data folder, which can be determined by looking at the configuration information, in the GroupWise Help | About Formativ dialog.

Are you running GroupWise in online, caching or remote mode?

Are you trying to migrate from a PST file or live from an Exchange account?

What MAPI mail services and profiles do you have configured?

We will continue to research why these issues can occur.

        Regards,

[“x” is replaced by Runtime when I install Runtime, but I had tried Runtime a couple of months ago so trial period has expired and it does not load into Groupwise. Now Migration isn’t even an option.]

We believe there is an environmental issue which influences the appearance of this problem. Unfortunately, we cannot yet reproduce this behavior in-house.

To help troubleshoot the problem, we have included additional log trace entries to help pinpoint the location where the process is failing. You can now download an updated version of the solution from the Formativ Download page.

It would be most appreciated if you could retest your environment with the SHIFT key option and either post the results to the forum or send them to support@advansyscorp.com.

Once we gather sufficient information to isolate the cause we should be able to address the problem quickly.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

We have confirmed that there is a bug in Formativ Express 1.6 beta which causes the ‘x’ to appear in the Formativ Control Panel Applet. Fortunately this is a benign problem which indicates the name resource is not correct for the control label. This will be fixed in the next update.

After uninstallation, the control panel applet probably won’t disappear until you have done a reboot because Windows has the file locked.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

reinstalling runtime replaced “x” with runtime (did not disappear when rebooting). still can’t use because my prior trial period for runtime expired and formativ express did not work properly.

want to give it another try, but stopped on all fronts
