adminisrator mode problems

I have all of the E Directory obects created in ConsoleOne and am ready to publish applets. I have looked on the developers edition and runtime versions for the admin utility to publish custom applets from within hte groupwise client to no avail.

The documentation says that this is only available i teh Studio version. Is this correct? So now i have to buy a Studio version just for the administration piece to run in administrator mode? Thanks in advancec for the help

Thank you for your post. Yes, you are correct, Formativ Studio is the product which contains the applet publishing capability.

You may have seen that Formativ Studio is sold separately or in both Formativ Small Business and Formativ Enterprise.

Hello,

I must be missing something – I have a purchased version of Formative and am trying to use the eDirectory administrator function but when I start Groupwise I don’t get the option to start administrator mode. In the quick start it says to run formativadmin.exe but I can’t find the file to run.

Does this mean I need to buy the Studio version to run the free utility or have I missed something obvious?

Which version of Formativ you are running (i.e. Studio, Creator, Runtime, etc)?

Could you send the Formativ configuration to support@advansyscorp.com. You can obtain the configuration by selecting Help | About Formativ… from the GroupWise main menu. When the About Formativ dialog appears, go to the Configuration tab and click the button Copy to clipboard. Then paste the text into your reply email (or save it to a plain-text file and include it as an attachment).

Thanks for providing the configuraion.

It appear that you have Formativ Runtime installed which is a low cost framework for running an unlimited number of secure Formativ solutions for GroupWise.

Formativ Studio allows you to manage, create and run an unlimited number of Formativ solutions for GroupWise. Formativ Studio enables authorized users publish Applets to Applet Libraries in eDirectory, and edit Applets stored in eDirectory Applet Libraries. These Applet libraries may then be made available to users within the organization.

In a nutshell, you need the Formativ Studio to manage the eDirectory and Formativ Runtime for your user to run the published applets. You can take advantage of the Formativ packages available which is a bundle designed for smaller enterprises (i.e. Formativ Enterprise, Formativ Small Business) .

You might want to consider modifying your web page to reflect that information. From the web page it appears that the eDirectory management capability is available free. Unless I just missed it, no where does it mention that you have to buy Studio before you can use the “free” utility.
