Ah, all this time I’ve been accessing the other external documentation files heh!

Ok, thanks for this, applet chaining implemented successfully to achieve the desired result. Thanks again Advansis Support Smile

      Cheers,

      Jason

        Hi,

Sounds like I could make use of the Applet Chaining feature to enable my solution. However I can find NO reference to either Applet Chaining nor Transfer data in the Language Guide, Users Guide or Programmers Guide that I downloaded from http://advansyscorp.com/formativ_support.htm.

I can confirm that I am using formativ creator version 2.5 so it should contain this feature. Is/are there updated help file(s) contining this feature?

        Kind Regards,

        Jason Child

          Hi,

Great, thanks for the confirmation of the work around, I look forward to an update with the release version of this class file that supports GroupWise 2012.

Also, I just wanted to take the opportunity to congratulate you all on the support of these forums. I have asked a number of questions over the past month or so and even if the answers haven’t always been to my delight, at least I have received feedback which has enabled me to develop solutions effectively. Well done on a great job guys, keep up the good work!

          Cheers,

          Jason.

Hi, just posting an update for my above question re GW 2012.

After reading the error message and checking the Program FilesAdvansysFormativ directory I noticed that there were a number of msgclass<version number>_0.txt files. I copied / cloned the “msgclass8_0.txt” file and re-named it to “msgclass12_.txt”.

This fixed my issue and the formativ creator is once again functioning in groupwise 2012. I realise that this might be a temporary work/around and just wondering if this is an accepted fix for my problem? or is there a newer version of this class file available for download? or is the GW 2012 still not yet officially supported (despite the product information page stating that it supports 8.0.1 and later)?

            Kind Regards,

              Hi, Thanks for your reply.

Yes I have considered the ListView/RzListView. Unfortunately this control is far too simplistic / restrictive for use, as a) I need to display different types of dynamic fields, Edit Boxes, Lists, Combo Boxes, Dates, Times etc. and b) Even if I could create these datatypes within the list, I need to dynamically assign event handlers to these dynamic field values which are only known at run time

I have also considered using the HTML dialog to achieve the required functionality. Although the use of javascript would allow me to configure dynamic events, I would need to access information back inside the applet from within the javascript update, aka Reverse Ajax which I’m not sure I can achieve inside the portal.

Anyway, for now I’m back to using the forms designer creating dynamic fields, and then not having event handlers but instead creating a wizard style solution to handle data entry. This creates a much more long-winded solution, but it’ll be as functional as I can make it given the current restrictions previously mentioned.

              Thanks again,

              Jason

Hey all, sorry to resurrect an old post, but it’s now 2012, 8 years later and this bug still exists in my Formativ version 2.5.0.0

Is there any word on when / if this issue of setting the Checkbox property of the DateTimePicker having no efect will be fixed?

I note in the post above that preference has been given to the new V2 Forms designer, but I need to create dynamic fields with dynamic event handlers that a recent support reply indicated was not possible in the forms designer. Hence I need this issue resolved as I am forced to use the current out-dated NewControlBoxDialog methodology to meet my needs within Formativ.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

                Regards,

                Jason

Ok, thanks for your feedback. I tried using the GetRef function as suggested, but was unable to get this to call my event sub and I’m not sure I have the time in my project plan required to delvelop a com enabled solution to accomodate this need.

This is unfortunate, but I guess I can achieve the same functionality using the limited Utilities.NewControlBoxDialog and either use a button to force an event or use chained dialogs for presenting required fields dependant on dynamic field values. A very outdated UI methodology but functional none the less.

Thank you for your time looking into this, much appreciated.

                  Regards,

                  Jason

Has anyone else needed to do this? I can’t be the only one heh. I’m not sure if my post above was clear.

Basically I need to create a new component at run time on a pre-existing formativ form, and then assign an event handler to it.

Any thoughts / feedback would be greatly appreciated.

                    Regards,

                    Jason

Thanks for the update, I was able to download the documentation fine from the updated link. Was almost tripped up by a comma in your link above however, but I got there in the end.

Thanks for your prompt response, much appreciated.

At the risk of repeating myself, Thank you very much! Its nice to know that I wasn’t overlooking the obvious when searching for the solution to my problem.

As such, I have taken your advice and posted an enhancement request via the Novell Enhancement Portal. The request link is as follows for ticket https://secure-www.novell.com/rms/rmsTool?action=WwwActions.viewPropsPage&reqId=56770

One question, if Novell chooses to accept this request, would there be a requirement for your client to expose any new tokens that may be created as a result? Or would they be accessible via another means such as the groupwise.throwtoken method described above?

                        Kind Regards,

Thank you for your response. And yes, this is the approach I have already taken in the interim. It is just a little surprising and disappointing that GroupWise has not provided for this functionality.

Thank you however for your time.

                          Kind Regards,

                          Jason.

Thanks for your response, I see now that the token works fine when the e-mail message has been fully opened and selecting the attachment.

However I guess what I am trying to achieve is a way to interact with a specific attachment from the preview pane. Is there anyway to achieve this?

                            Kind Regards,

                            Jason
