You can determine the date/time of start-up for a machine by typing the following at a command prompt:

        net stats svr

Does the error persist after restarting the Viewer?

We are in the processing of finalising a minor upgrade. It includes a change that we hope fixes this problem. We will contact you by email with details on how to obtain the upgrade.

In general, for this problem we suggest that you do the following.

Please send the contents of the _metadata folder (zipped). The exported metadata contains only Sender, Recipients, Subject and Date for each message; it contains only Display Name and Email Address for each contact.

Thank you for reporting this problem.

For how long has the user’s machine been running since the last reboot?

Is the error text “Date Range Error” or “Range Check Error”?

              Thanks for your enquiry below.

Archive To Go 1.2 introduced process auditing to either a text file (CSV) or the enterprise class GWAVA Redline reporting and monitoring tool for GroupWise. The Creator wizard includes a step for selecting/configuring the audit target (CSV/Redline). With version 1.5 it is possible to hide from the user the fact the auditing is available, and at the same time:

              • Suppress auditing altogether, or
              • Lock auditing to a specific target.

I hope this helps. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions or comments.

                Sorry for the delay.

Could you list the files and folders remaining after uninstalling, please?

                  Thanks for the clarification.

Could you send a few sample messages to support@advansyscorp.com, please? It would be helpful if you include both the saved message (FML file) and the original GroupWise message (as an attachment) for comparison.

In addition, please send your Formativ configuration. You can obtain the configuration by selecting Help | About Formativ… from the GroupWise main menu. When the About Formativ dialog appears, go to the Configuration tab and click the button Copy to clipboard. Then paste the text into your reply email (or save it to a plain-text file and include it as an attachment).

                      Thank you for your enquiry.

Unfortunately Message Saver does not support the kind of default folder you describe, ie. where the user is prompted to find a folder relative to that location before confirming the save.

Perhaps the following arrangement would be less onerous for your users:

                      • Create a folder in GroupWise for each client. At an appropriate point, move received messages to the relevant client folder. (It may be possible to set up a GroupWise Rule to do this automatically.)
                      • Use Message Saver in Configure mode to define a set of ‘save locations’. Each location would represent a User/Client/Email target folder that corresponds to a specific client folder in GroupWise.
                      • When it is time to save messages for a given client, open the client folder in GroupWise and select all unsaved items, then start Message Saver.

I have added your request to our enhancements database for Message Saver for consideration in a future update of the solution.

                      Regards,

                        Thanks for reporting this problem.

                        >I’ve seen this message on the HELP pdf file but it gives no indication to the reason behind it.

Messages which are received from outside a GroupWise post office include the ‘system’ attachment Mime.822 (by default system attachments are hidden). Mime.822 stores all normal attachments in a specific format which is not generally human-readable. Message Saver tries to extract the attachments from Mime.822 but discards these if their number does not agree with the total reported by GroupWise, and instead tries to retrieve the ones extracted by GroupWise. We cannot guess at the reason for the discrepancy. We have seen, in rare cases, Message Saver extract more attachments than GroupWise has; Message Saver always uses the greater number extracted.

When you open the saved message in Message Viewer, what do you see on the Save Log tab?

It sounds like GroupWise was unable to save the attachments (Message Saver sends a request to GroupWise for this). There may be some data corruption which prevents access to these attachments. It may help to run GWCheck on the GroupWise account, to fix any database corruption.

For any of the messages whose attachments do not save, are you able to use the GroupWise client to save the attachments manually? Is there anything special about the attachments, eg. very large?

What is your version of GroupWise?

                        Regards,
                        Advansys Support

It sounds like you might be using Formativ in a Citrix or Windows Terminal Server environment (because you mention Windows Server 2003). Is this correct?

Do you need to install on a standalone machine, or on Windows Server for client machines (ie. Citrix or Windows Terminal Server clients)?

Do you need to install on Windows Vista (either standalone or client machine)?

Could you say more about what you mean by this, please? For example, do you want to uninstall for a user with Administrator or Normal rights?

I look forward to your reply.

Thanks for letting me know. I am not aware of any reason why GW 7.0.2 could cause this problem. Please try the technique suggested above.

The user manual for Archive To Go Creator refers (on page 13) to using Caching and Remote mode. Creator should work in these modes, as well as Online mode.

Thanks for listing the mailbox stats.

Yes, I would suggest you go ahead and split InBox and OutBox into folders of up to 5,000 items (4,900 is a safer maximum). If you find problems with any of the new folders, try splitting them into folders which are smaller still.

Several customers have reported success with this technique. I hope this helps.

By the way, which version of GroupWise are you running?

                                Kind regards,

Authentication is not required for viewing an archive created by Archive To Go.

Optional encryption and authentication are features that are on the wish list for Archive To Go. At this stage I have no information about the availability of these features.
