We are using GroupWise 7.0.1 (14/12/2006) and unable to re-produce the same issue. We was told by the Novell that GroupWise 7 IR1 (prior to 14/12/2006 build) had some bugs in relation to the OnOpen and some other events. We recommend you to upgrade the GroupWise client to the latest release.

If I set my view to “Paul Sherry Home Custom Settings” the messages don’t appear. If I go to View, Display settings, Edit/Create then change from “Paul Sherry Home Custom” to “All Items” my panels disappear and I get a folder list including Fromative Portals, Drafts, Sent Items, Mailbox, etc. The messages that I removed the attachments from are listed at the bottom but none of my other messages from my Mailbox are there.
The view you are seeing is correct. “All Items” view of the “Home” folder should display all sub folders and any messages in that folder. It will not display any sub folder messages (i.e mailbox).

If I do the same thing in a folder under my cabinet it successfully deletes the attachment and leaves (or recreates) the message. I tried it again in my “home” folder and the message disappeared.
Please provide some details about how you tried the solution with “Home” folder. Have you selected the messages from the “Home” folder or “Mailbox” folder when the messages disappeared?
I suspect it may be something environmental or account specific. Can you re-produce the same behaviour in another account? Another thought, may be you create a personal folder and drag messages you want to remove the attachments into the folder then execute the applet.
Hope this helps.

First, a comment on this forum: I don’t see a ready way to “quote” when doing a reply.
Click the “…” toolbar icon to insert quote.

When you replied “Yes” to my previous query about the eval, does that mean it *is* fully functional, or it *is not* fully functional?
Eval version is fully functional.

Now, it strikes me I should mention that I am attempting to send these with GWIA down, as the particular account I am authoring from, is a “pop3” account as I do not have the GW system provisioned to deal with multiple domains.
We haven’t test this solution with POP3 account. We do not think this solution will work properly if the GWIA is not running and it may also rely on some features of the Post Office Agent (i.e Delay Delivery).

Advansys SupportJanuary 9, 2007 at 8:24 pm in reply to: Deletion of GroupWise attachments removes To information #8357I have tested the solution today with GroupWise 7.0.1 (build date 14/12/2006) and it seems working as expected. I have selected messages from cabinet folder and root “Home” folder (i.e “Bill Smith Home”). Please see below some questions and suggestions:
- I have set the “All Items” settings for the “Home” folder to view the messages (Select “Home” folder – change Display to “All Items”). What is your display settings for the “Home” folder?
- What is the build date of your GroupWise client (see Help- About GroupWise)?
- You said “when I use it the message disappears completlely. When I search for the message it finds it in ‘Paul Sherry Home’ and I can open it from the search dialog but it doesn’t show up in my mailbox.”, can you see the messages in “Paul Sherry Home” without using the search dialog? Where was these messages before you execute the solution (i.e “Paul Sherry Home” or mailbox folder)?

Advansys SupportJanuary 8, 2007 at 4:20 pm in reply to: Deletion of GroupWise attachments removes To information #8346I am guessing you are using groupWise 7 client. Can you re-produce the same behaviour in different GroupWise folder?
The “Delete attachments from selected messages” solution will delete the original message and re-create a message without the attachments and preserve the original message settings (i.e date, subjects, from, etc).

Using your downloaded 30 day evals. Are they not really fully functional?
Eval version are fully functional.

Using the personalized email(er) with GW 7.x. Can create the emails but they don’t really send. They seem to end up in the Trash. If I do a “send now”. If I attempt, using “advanced” send, the emails end up in the “Sent” folder, with a time stamp (apparenlty) of “now” (not “later”), but they still never send. If I do a “resend”, it will go out.
If the “Delete items from the sent items folder” check box is checked and enabled then the solution will delete the messages sent from the sent items folder. The idea is to minimize the account size when sending mass emails. This option will not effect the messages sent to recipients. Use the “Send Now” – “Advance Options” when you want to send the messages in different time. Please make sure to un-check the “Start sending messages on:” check box if you do not send the messages later (default is always un-check).
Please see the solution help for more information.

Also, my standard “signature”, seen below, is not shown, in the “test” messages.
The Personalized Emailer will not place the default GroupWise signature into the mass emailer messages. 3rd party developer unable access the default GroupWise signature using Object API or Token API. The SOAP API (GroupWise 7 and later) seems to provide option to access the default signature but it need further investigation.
In the mean time, you need to add the signature in the master email template. In a nutshell, only the message contents in the master email template will be sent to the recipients.
Regards,
Advansys SupportYou should always use the Personalized Emailer to send the draft messages created by this solution. Personalized Emailer provide you options to send the messages immediately or send later. If you choose the send later option, after review the messages use the solution to send the messages. Execute the Personalized Emailer solution, it will prompt you to send the draft messages created earlier.
We could not set the “To” field for the draft messages because of an issue of the GroupWise client. “To” field not visible in the GroupWise client even though we specified. Work around we used to store the “To” field value in a custom field called “ADV MailMerge”. You can add the column “ADV MailMerge” into the Work-In-Progress folder to see the “To” field value.
See below the steps to add a column in the folder view:
– Select the Work-In-Progress folder – right mouse click and select Properties – select Display tab – click “More Display Settings” – click “Edit Columns” – select “Adv MailMerge” and press Add.
– Alternatively you can right mouse click from the column fields (name, subject, date, etc) to see the more columns options.Hope this helps. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.

Advansys SupportJanuary 8, 2007 at 2:24 pm in reply to: problem with fields inserted in html with personalized mailer… #8926Our engineer able to re-produce the behaviour when uses the Stationery solution to create the email template to use in Personalized Emailer. GroupWise uses base64 encoding to the plain text and html contents in the Mime.822 file when the Stationery solution used to create the template. Personalized Emailer unable to process the emailer fields because of the base64 encoding. We have seen this behaviour during GroupWise 7 beta period and reported to Novell. Novell fixed this issue last year but unfortunately this behaviour still present when a Token API used.
We have reported this behaviour to Novell and get back to you about any progress.

Advansys SupportSorry for the delay in our response.
It looks like you can achieve your enhancement request using Formativ. You can write a function to create and send an Appointment when the user being prompted to “Would you like to book an appt now?” and pressed the ok button. If you are using GroupWise 7 then you can create a sub-calendar and share the calendar with other users. Select Calendar folder and choose “New Calendar” popup menu option to create a new calendar. Choose “Sharing…” popup menu option to provide the share users list. You can use the Formativ to create posted Appointment into this shared sub-calendar. Please see below an example to create posted Appointment into a sub-calendar.
See the Object API (http://developer.novell.com/documentation/gwobjapi/index.html?gwobjenu/data/h7ikbsqg.html), Formativ Language Guide and Developers Guide for more information.
'------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ' This sample code create a posted Appointment into a sub-calendar called ' "Prenatal Calendar". The idea is to share the sub-calendar with other users so ' that shared users can add or modify the calendar items. This sub-calendar ' option is only available in GroupWise 7 or later version. '------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sub Main(Client, GWEvent) CreateAppointment("Prenatal Calendar") End Sub ' Create posted appointment in sub-calendar folder. You can share this sub-calendar ' folder with others users so that shared users can view the calendar messages. sub CreateAppointment(aSubFolderName) dim oAppt dim oFolder dim oSubCalendar set oSubCalendar = nothing for each oFolder in groupwise.account.calendar.folders if (ucase(oFolder.name) = ucase(aSubFolderName)) then set oSubCalendar = oFolder exit for end if next if (oSubCalendar is nothing) then exit sub end if set oAppt = nothing set oAppt = oSubCalendar.messages.add("GW.MESSAGE.APPOINTMENT", fgwPersonal) oAppt.StartDate = now oAppt.EndDate = DateAdd("h", 1, now) oAppt.Place = "Office" oAppt.Subject.plaintext = "Test Appointment: " & now oAppt.BodyText.plaintext = "Test appointment. Please ignore." set oAppt = nothing set oFolder = nothing set oSubCalendar = nothing end subHope this helps.

You may need to re-register the vbscript.dll file with the server. Please see the syntax:
c:windowssystem32> regsvr32 vbscript.dllIf the problem persists then you need to re-install the Windows Script host from the url below:

Regards,
Advansys SupportIts a known GroupWise Object API limitation that you can not create the autodate appointments. However you can create all day appointments but the AllDay property only available in GroupWise 7.0 and later. The example below creates all day appointments for 3 years:
for x = 0 to 2 Set objAppt = GroupWise.Account.Calendar.Messages.Add("GW.MESSAGE.APPOINTMENT", fgwPersonal) With objAppt .OnCalendar = TRUE .Priority = fgwNormal .Place = "City" ' An AllDay appointment starts at midnight of the first day and ends at midnight of the next day. ' For example, the properties show up in the Object API StartDate as 23-June-2006 at 12:00:00 a.m. and in the ' EndDate as 24-June-2006 at 12:00:00 a.m. — GroupWise 7.0 and later .AllDay = true ' See the Visual Basic Scripting help for the DateAdd function .StartDate = DateAdd("yyyy", x, date) .Subject = "Birthday" .Private = TRUE .AlarmSet = TRUE .AlarmReminderMinutes = 900 .BodyText.PlainText = "Happy birthday to you! Don't forget my present" End With Set objAppt = Nothing nextHope this helps.
