Certainly – I have replied by email.
Regards,
Advansys SupportThank you for the clarification.
It is possible to run Formativ applets in the environment you describe. If the NetWare client is not installed, Formativ will use LDAP to communicate with eDirectory/NDS.
The Formativ ReadMe and User Guide state that:
quote:
Novell NetWare Client is required for the Schema Wizard administration tool (Formativ administrators only).
The Schema Wizard snap-in for NWAdmin is used for administration of eDirectory/NDS. The Formativ snap-in for ConsoleOne can be used instead, and it does not require the NetWare client.
Regards,
Advansys SupportGroupWise automatically inserts the user signature after the message text but before the reply/forward marker, if any:
">>> "
Notice that the marker ends in a space character.
You can modify your applet to prefix the disclaimer with this marker. This should induce GroupWise to behave as desired.
For an HTML-format disclaimer, you can hide the marker from normal view by enclosing it in a tag whose font color is white, or the font size is very small.
Note: The behaviour described above applies to GroupWise 6.5x and below. You may need to test this strategy with GroupWise 7.x.
I hope this helps you.
Regards,
Advansys SupportJust to confirm, are the workstations you refer to Windows Terminal Services/Citrix clients of the Windows 2003 server?
Regards,
Advansys SupportI will send you the event diagnostic applet.
In addition, I would suggest that you use the Trace() method to help in debugging applets. Trace() writes a string out to any attached debugger, allowing you to watch the flow of a script.
For example, if you include the following line in an applet:
call Utilities.Trace("This is a trace line")the text:
This is a trace line
will be output to any attached debugger. We recommend DebugView from SysInternals.
You can use this method also to output property values, as in:
call Utilities.Trace("EventParams.Item(0).Value = " & EventParams.Item(0).Value)which might output the following:
EventParams.Item(0).Value = 7
I hope this helps.

Achim,
I have just used GroupWise 6.5.6 to test the GroupWise Application event ItemReplyOpenItem. This works as expected, when either Replace Groupwise Item or Before Groupwise Event is specified.
It is possible that this event was broken in one of the GroupWise 6.5 service packs SP2-5. It appears to work correctly in version 6.5.6.
Can you try testing your solution on GroupWise 6.5.6?
If you wish, we could email you a diagnostic Formativ applet which displays the current GroupWise event, along with its arguments.
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Advansys SupportYou can determine how to hide Formativ as follows.
- Shut down GroupWise.
- Open the Formativ applet in the Windows Control Panel.
- On the Local Config tab, uncheck all items under Formativ Menu Appears in GroupWise if….
- On the Protocols tab, select Use local Applets only.
- Click OK.
- Restart GroupWise.
- Select Help | About Formativ… from the GroupWise main menu. When the About Formativ dialog appears, go to the Configuration tab. Find the item “Mode” under Client Options. Write down the value of “Mode”.
You can customize a ZENworks installation of Formativ to set Mode to the above value in the following Registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareAdvansys Corporationformativ1.0Settings
You can also set the Formativ configuration for users with eDirectory. See the Formativ Studio documentation for details.
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Advansys SupportThank you for your enquiry.
I suggest that you use a process of elimination to determine the cause of this problem. Please compare the Formativ configuration from a machine that works with a machine that does not work. It may be worthwhile ensuring that the configurations are the same.
You can obtain the configuration by selecting Help | About Formativ… from the GroupWise main menu. When the About Formativ dialog appears, go to the Configuration tab and click the button Copy to clipboard. Then paste the text into (for example) Windows Notepad.
You could also check the drive mappings on your server. Perhaps some of these have changed. Please check the configuration of Stationery to ensure that the sample stationery directory exists.
If you still cannot resolve the problem, try reinstalling GroupWise. If not fixed, try reinstalling Formativ. Please also look at the ReadMe files for Formativ, Stationery and Message Saver to ensure that all prerequisite software is installed, eg. Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 (or above), Microsoft Windows Script Host.
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Advansys SupportWe suggest that when evaluating Advansys Formativ, you should install the product on a client (not server) machine.
Note: In order to take advantage of the full trial period of the unlicensed software, please ensure that it has not been installed on the machine previously.
If you wish to install Advansys Formativ in a client/server environment, please contact support@advansyscorp.com for more information about how this can be done.
I hope this helps.

According to Novell, a defect prevented the On Reply event from firing when choosing an item from the Reply button drop-down menu. This was fixed in GroupWise 6.5 SP1.
Which version of GroupWise are you running?
Regards,
Advansys SupportThanks for posting your discovery. It’s good to hear you have had some success with the online documentation.
Regards,
Advansys SupportIt sounds like something has gone awry during installation of Formativ Runtime. You note that “the ‘Applets’ menu item will appear up to 8 times until I restart GW.” Did this happen only once after installation? When you restart GW is there only one Applets menu?
Could you send the Formativ configuration to support@advansyscorp.com, please? You can obtain the configuration by selecting Help | About Formativ… from the GroupWise main menu. When the About Formativ dialog appears, go to the Configuration tab and click the button Copy to clipboard. Then paste the text into your reply email (or save it to a plain-text file and include it as an attachment).
Regards,
Advansys SupportIf you have a message ID, then you can use the technique used in the following sample code:
dim iMsgID dim oMsg iMsgID = GetNextID set oMsg = GroupWise.Account.GetMessage(iMsgID) ' Use oMsg...
See the GroupWise online documentation for details of the Account object.
I hope this helps.

The successor to Message Viewer 1.3.0.2 has not yet been released. It is a major update to the current release (see point 4 below). If you are interested in previewing a beta of Message Viewer 2.0, please write to support@advansyscorp.com.
1) It should be possible to save one or more messages in a shared folder. See this post for the known alternatives for doing this. The blank box titled “Formativ Business Solutions” has not been reported previously. Does this occur persistently if you try again for a few attempts? Is the shared folder outgoing or incoming?
2) It is not possible to add/remove columns from the item list in Message Viewer. The From/To column may be included in a future release. To find a message by sender/recipient, use the Find feature which searches all textual parts of message files (not only the body). You may wish to review our archiving product, which does support this feature.
3) Message Saver will prompt for a folder/file name if you configure it as follows.
- Hold CTRL down as you start the solution to enter Configure mode.
- Place a check mark at Manual Save mode (ask for a file name when saving each message).
- Click OK.
4) Reply and Forward will be available in Message Viewer 2.0, and will work with any MAPI-compatible email client, eg. Outlook, Outlook Express. If GroupWise is installed and the current login is the account from which the message was saved, then GroupWise will be used to forward/reply to the original (not saved) GroupWise message.
I hope this helps.
